*Panicking!* Rei is in the hospital!!! Thank god for Brianne!

I can't help but feel responsible for this! If she wasn't helping me move my crap, maybe it wouldn't have happened. Even though she herself told me that she'd already been feeling worse than she'd been letting on, I can't shake the guilt.

Rei was helping me bring some more of my things up here. My sister, Brianne, had gathered what she could from the house and was nice enough to bring it over. We got the first load in without a problem, but then we were coming down the stairs and once she reached the bottom, Rei just stood there, held her head a moment and fell in the snow! I've never been so horrified! Luckily, Brianne was right behind us. She is an ICU nurse and she's amazing at what she does. She jumped into action and checked her pulse and she was alive. She wasn't very coherent, though. Her eyes were glassy and half shut and she was sorta just moaning and groaning.

The manager here was on today and he likes Rei and helps her out when he can. He called 911 and my sister and I got her out of the snow and gave her our coats. Of course it had to start snowing during all of this. And if that wasn't bad enough, it's freezing outside and the wind is awful.

I had tears running down my face and just wanted her to be ok! It only took a few minutes for the ambulance to arrive, but it seemed like forever. They got her off the ground and on to a stretcher and they had a bunch of warm blankets for her. Brianne was on her way to work, so she had her credentials with her and they let her help. Before they took off, she gave me her car keys and told me to meet them there. I ran up here with the rest of my stuff, threw it all on the floor and grabbed my purse.

My sister doesn't work at Brockton Hospital, but she was still there talking to the doctor that was treating Rei. She ran up and told me she wasn't injured and it didn't appear to be anything serious. Her blood pressure was low and she had a low body temp from being in the cold, though. I told him everything I'd seen. That she hadn't slept much and hadn't been feeling well today. He wrote some things down and said they'd run some tests.

Somebody there called Cathy, I was too emotional to do it... :( She was far more composed than I was and she gave me a big hug. I'm sure you know how hospitals are. Tests take forever and it is hell on your nerves. When they did come back, it showed that Rei is dehydrated and that she DID NOT have any drugs in her other than what she's supposed to have. She also has minor kidney damage and her potassium was pretty low. The kidney damage is not life threatening, it's just from all the years of drugs and medication.

She came to, but she'd been given a bunch of meds and was very groggy. Even in this state, she was cracking jokes. "You're on your own tonight, sweetie." She told me what the doctor had, but that they'd told her her body was exhausted and she had a touch of a virus. I wanted to stay, but Cathy said no and wanted to take me home. She said she was just gonna sleep and that she'd stay tonight and that we'd see about tomorrow. I went with it and she gave me an anxiety pill and told me to go eat and relax.

I have the phone here, if you wanna talk, Adra. I just found out that it's probably gonna be Monday when they send her home. If it's safe and she's awake, I'm gonna go over and have her text you. Hopefully this pill will help.

  2. I will happily pass along your kind sentiments. She will be reduced to a blubbering mass of tears and snot when I tell her. :p <3
